A harp is what holds the lamp shade on the lamp. What is a spider top? A spider top is a type of lamp shade fitter most seen on lamps that require harps. A uno drop is a type of lamp shade fitter most commonly seen on down bridge lamps and lamps that do not have harps. How do I care for my shades? A clean white dry cloth works well for a light dusting. J. Gregory shades are of the highest quality and should last for several years. Do not vacuum your lampshades because it could rip or tear the fabric. Does it matter the wattage of bulb I use? Every lamp has its own suggested wattage seen by a sticker on the socket. Generally you can go about 25 watts higher than the required wattage. How do I know if a shade is too big? It is a matter of preference, but the common standard is it is too big if it goes several inches below the on/off switch. Remember, a shade is meant to enhance a lamp, not to hide it! How do I know if a shade is too small? Again, it's preference, but if you can see too far above the on/off switch it is too small. How long does a custom shade take? Depending on what needs to be done, generally custom lamp shades will take about four to six weeks. How do I pay for my purchases?
